I drow 2 elevations, 2 sections and 3 plans of the Villa Dall’ava. This was first part of our midterm project.
We started new term, projects, drawings, sleepless nights…etc. without lose of time. :)) In this term, our first assignment was “The Text”. we were given a book named Alice in wonderland to read. Then, We prepared a diagram included minimum 3 scenes or parts and interpreted in these scenes diverse experiences of space.. In my diagram i focused on the conversations, and location between objects and subjects. Sometimes they are close each other and sometimes exact opposite. When we consider all of the these things, thet had a relation with each other and occurs spatial relationships.
I used lines and keywords and emphasized the intersection and overlapping in my diagram.
The Iller Bankası’s building was design by Seyfi Arkan who is a successful and important Turkish architect in Turkey. When we look at the history of ‘İller Bankası’, we see that this institution has important effect in Turkey. The main client of the building ‘Iller Bankası’ was founded in 1933 and its former name was ‘Belediyeler Binası’.
When we analyze design qualities of the building, using materials were attracted to me. Iller Bankası is one of the most interesting constructions in the Turkish architecture in terms of using materials. Seyfi Arkan used new and local materials in extend and intent surfaces of the building. Especially, Arkan used a new style of Ankara stone which never seen before in extent surface of the building. Structure of three floors covered with stones and was made up by rectangular windows are different materials as well as in terms of usage from structure of ground floor. On the other hand, it is attracted attention that various ingredients like glass, bronze, marble and papier-mache used together in a meticulous craftsmanship in the entrance of the building. The first floor includes offices belonged to the Bank and the other floors designed a simple shape of ‘L’. Also ground floor was designed regressions and emptying with this way provided dynamism in the ground floor. When looking at as a whole, after the street facade of the building was figured so simple, Seyfi Arkan applied sort of circular lines never seen before in Ankara in order to enrich the lower part of the construction5. Arkan applied to it very successfully . Plan of the ground floor has three different parts which placed in the centre and these parts have hierarchy each other. İller Bankası building, which combines both the simplicity of the expression and richness of design, might be described as a very instructive example of the modernist approach. The basement of the Bank building divided into vaults, cloakroom, workers restrooms, a woodshed, bank archives, apartment store, and a gas shelter. Both ground and the first floor belong to the bank, the second floor to the Directorate of Public Works and also the third floor has been planned for housing. On the other side, the top floors were used order of windows and covering of Ankara stones verticality while horizontal and circular lines dominate in the ground floor and also main entrance was emphasized with used semicircle.
